Hamilton County
Hamilton County was presented with a certificate and an America's Promise wagon during a community networking meeting hosted by the Iowa Collaboration for Youth Development in Des Moines in December 2005. It is the first Community of Promise to be officially recognized by the state since Iowa was selected as a State of Promise by America’s Promise in December, 2004.

This designation will enable Hamilton County to build awareness around youth development efforts, become part of a statewide network of like-minded communities, form a unified voice for activism, and recognize and strengthen the assets for children and youth in the community.

Hamilton County’s Community of Promise, Power Up YOUth, is specifically committed to promoting the Five Promises through substance abuse prevention and helping youth create positive, healthy relationships. They also aim to improve the quality and quantity of youth programming available in the county.
