Our Commitment to Your Privacy

treated. This policy may change from time to time so please check back
periodically. You can always review the current version of the policy by

Our Commitment to Children's Online Privacy
America's Promise is committed to safeguarding the privacy of children online.
Please read the following policy to understand how personal information of
children collected by America's Promise at this web site will be treated.
This web site is operated by Iowa's Promise - The
Alliance for Youth, 200 East Grand Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50309, 800-308-5987,
jody.benz@iowalifechanging.com.
America's Promise collects personal information from
children including those under the age of 13 for the purpose of adding them to
the America's Promise mailing list for occasional newsletters or information
updates, and subscribing them to an e-mail listserv for young people engaged in
service, leadership or advocacy activities to help other children and youth
(Young Leaders Listserv). For that latter purpose, the child submits a personal
e-mail address.
America's Promise allows all interested children to
participate in its Young Leaders Listserv. A listserv is a mailing list of
people who communicate about their common interests through Internet e-mail.
When you subscribe to a listserv your e-mail address is added to that mailing
list and you receive every message that is sent to the mailing list. Likewise,
messages you send to the listserv will go to everyone on the mailing list. When
you post messages to the listserv, your personal e-mail address is revealed to
the other listserv participants. By participating in the Young Leaders
Listserv, young people nationwide can communicate with each other about
America's Promise and how to help deliver the Five Promises in their school,
campus or community. The listserv also makes the latest news and resources for
young leaders available to participants.
America's Promise will never disclose the personal
information collected from children to third parties except that the nature of
the Young Leaders Listserv (as explained above) is such that a participant
reveals his or her e-mail address when he or she posts a message to all
listserv participants.
America's Promise is prohibited from and does not
condition a child's participation in an activity on the child's disclosing more
personal information than is reasonably necessary to participate in such
activity.
The parent of any child from whom America's Promise
has collected information at this web site can review and have deleted the
child's personal information, and refuse to permit further collection or use of
the child's information.
The Information We Collect
The only time America's Promise will ask for your personal information is when
signing up for one of our mailing lists or enrolling you in one of our
programs. During this process, America's Promise asks for your name,
organization, address, city, state, zip code, phone, fax, email, gender and
birth date.
We will store that information in our database to send
you offers and information about America's Promise. We may from time to time
provide your name and contact information (as part of a mailing list) to
businesses or organizations that actively support, sponsor or partner with
America's Promise. If you do not wish us to provide your name and contact
information to these businesses or organizations, please
contact us.
Typically the mailing list would be used initially for
programs which America's Promise seeks to derive additional support through
your participation. If you take advantage of an offer from one of our
supporters, sponsors or partners and become their customer, they may
independently wish to send offers to you.
In this case, you will need to inform them separately
that you do not wish to receive future offers from them. In addition, if you
contact America's Promise, we may keep a record of that correspondence. If at
any time, you no longer wish to receive e-mails from America's Promise, please
let us know.
Our Commitment to Security
America's Promise and its partners operate secure data networks protected by
industry standard firewall and password protection systems. Our security and
privacy policies are periodically reviewed and enhanced as necessary and only
authorized individuals have access to the information provided by our users.
To protect your information off-line, we have put in
place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard
and secure the information we collect from you online.
